SPECIAL EVENT - Saturday, 03 April 2010: JEFF MILLS live performance of his new project/album "The Sleeper Wakes" in Tresor Club Berlin!!

It all started in Japan: four years ago Jeff Mills' concept album "One Man Spaceship" was released on the Tokyo label Womb, an adventurous trip into the deepest spaces of electronic music, accompanied by an incomparably orchestrated opulence and keenness of detail. Subsequently Mills disappeared from the Japanese club scene for four years to work on his album-performance project "Sleeper". He himself refers to the four year construction period as a space odyssey sound. Inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright's concept of compression and release, he translates this into an American base ideal for freedom in sound. The result is a superlative act: the Detroit doyen will perform seven hours on a round stage that is adapted perfectly to the innovative requirements of Mills' futuristic electronica. With sounds, visuals and even an outfit he leads the guests into another dimension. At the decade New Year 2010 celebration, Jeff Mills performed his Sleeper project live in Tokyo. It was the return of a music traveler to the planet earth. And this is what we can expect in Tresor for this very special night.

October 1 & 2, 2010: Tresor Records celebrates 19 years of techno history, together with a Tuna Park night and a 25 years Metroplex night: top talent including Stewart Walker, Juan Atkins, Shake Shakir, Eddie Fowlkes, Abe Duque, Pacou, Suzi Wong, Daniel Rajkovic and many more!

Fact: 19 years ago Tresor Club decided to start its own label to support the new sounds appearing in the new club that had just opened the same year - the rest is history. Tresor Records is a dinosaur among electronic dance music labels and it is scarce to find a techno DJ without one or more of our label's records in a set. With a flair for the exotic, Tuna Park gets into gear for part one of the birthday celebration this evening, starting with the innovative and highly talented improvisational saxophonist Niklas on Sax. Improvising live tonight with DJ Vertigo, he counts among the artists he has worked with: Ellen Alien, Cari Lekebusch, Mijk van Dijk, Heiko Laux, Housemeister, Benno Blome and many more. Combine this with a special dance performance by Baris Cengiz and you can bet on a very different experience in Globus tonight. Our tech-house "Liebling" Daniel Rajkovic fills out the Globus program with dynamite beats worthy of any enthusiastic clubber. In the basement one of Tresor Records' most distinguished artists and live performer Stewart Walker makes an exclusive appearance and we suggest - don't miss this! His skill in delivering a live experience is unparalleled and hailed by critics around the world. Together with a knock-out set by resident Suzi Wong with a harder edge tonight, and techno resident T.A.G., this is a Friday night for urban clubbers with a goal: dancing, dancing, dancing...

Night No. 2 for the celebration of 19 amazing years of electronic music finesse by Tresor Records hits all-time highs: this is what we call pulling out all the stops. The very first historic recordings on Tresor Records were shaped and influenced by three of Detroit's legendary techno/electro/house vanguard artists, a mighty trio who will grace the Globus decks tonight: Juan Atkins, who celebrates 25 prolific years with his label Metroplex, released albums on Tresor that have garnered almost mythological status among critics. His last release on Tresor "The Berlin Sessions" (Tresor.215) showed that the master is still full of wonder. Contemporaries from the motor city and no less pioneering include the great Anthony "Shake" Shakir, whose collaborations with Detroit greats such as Carl Craig, Derrick May, Mike Banks, Claude Young and of course Juan Atkins, put him in a legendary class of his own. And if that is not enough, Black-Techno-Soul originator himself Mr. Eddie "Flashin" Fowlkes makes an extra special appearance on the decks tonight. Some of Tresor Records' earliest entries were made by Mr. Fowlkes and Mr. Atkins together with Moritz von Oswald and Thomas Fehlmann in the form of 3MB - epic sounds from electronic music heroes. Making the night even more sexy, classy and fiercely singular is one of our favorite guest DJ's in the basement tonight: Abe Duque, the venerable New York DJ with an unmistakable flair for tech-house à la sublime, who collaborated on a Tresor Records release together with Blake Baxter during the 90s. Tresor Records artist Pacou is a man of indispensible talent for the label, having released six albums, a string of EPS and important remixes for label commarades. His influence on the label is mighty and it equals his dexterity on the decks - a techno scientist. Put that all together with the meaty, mighty and seamless techno set by resident Mad Max and you've got one sweaty, thrilling, exhilarating party to celebrate a label that single-handedly put Berlin on the international techno map. Yes we can pat ourselves on the back and we want to see your hands tonight too!

New album from Tresor artist OSCAR MULERO - GREY FADES TO GREEN: tour dates for this spring and summer! Tresor Club date: 30 April, 2011.

This is the first album Tresor artist Oscar Mulero has released under his own name, after two acclaimed LPs under the moniker Trolley Route. Well known for his skills as a hard-edged, raw and floor-orientated techno DJ, his productions go far beyond, digging deep into the intricate landscape of intelligent techno, floating moods, reminiscent atmospheres, harmony and detail. Grey Fades To Green is the affirmation of his maturity as a producer, using both hardware and software in the pursuit of a highly coherent and diverse album.

The concept is split into two parts: The Grey and The Green, each one with its own character. The first part is rougher and meant for the dance floor, although pays full attention to detail and complexity. The second part is quieter, has a slower pace and is best enjoyed at home.

Tracklist:

Part I - The Grey
1. Under The Street Lights
2. Taken To The Wrong Way
3. Same Shoes Different Streets
4. Seleccion Natural
5. Road To Pleasure
6. 46 (re-work)
7. Repeater

Part II - The Green
1. Letters From Madrid
2. Dreams Of Happiness
3. After All
4. The Darker Days
5. Last Regrets
6. Grey Fades To Green
7. Silent Air

The Grey opens with ‘Under The Street Lights’. An academic techno track with FM bass, heavyweight drum programming and an evolving structure that builds up to a melodic and mental ending with an unforgettable synth line. ‘Taken To The Wrong Way’ slows down the bpm a bit in order to get that fatter sound. Berghain style bass drum, clever 303 bass lines, complex synth arrangements and dark atmospheres. Watch out for the dreamy ending. ‘Same Streets Different Shoes’ starts with field recordings from many of the world cities he’s seen during his world tour, leading to an abrupt hypnotic sinusoidal sequence on top of a 909 shuffled beat for the lovers of the techno of the future. ‘Seleccion Natural’ is pure Mulero sound. Powerful broken rhythms, industrial feel, power and crunchiness add a sweeping drone. A full-on analogue workout. Can you feel it? ‘Road To Pleasure’ is in the same vein. Out of this world drum programming, scientific labours on the synths and again a complex and mutant arrangement for this floor filler. ‘46 (re-work)’ and ‘Repeater’ are the soundtrack to a post Blade Runner futuristic city, where everything is hidden under the acid fumes and the sunlight has never been seen. The sound of asteroids falling on a deserted city. Pure techno from outer space.

In The Green Oscar goes deep into the intellectual side of techno music and is heavily influenced by the post rave sound emerging from the UK in the nineties: Aphex Twin, Gescom, B12, Plaid, Autechre... but with a contemporary approach. This part of the album brings you melodies, harmonies, endless atmospheres, and hours of studio work. Each sound has been carefully constructed, nothing is left to chance: Every stereo panning, every change to the synth’s parameters has been meticulously designed for your listening pleasure; just what you want when you listen to techno on headphones. Futuristic music made with the utmost care. The Green starts with ‘Letters From Madrid’, a dreamy and melancholy track, where an introspective melody leads to a slow-building drumbeat. Broken rhythms and distorted drums go side by side with the piano riffs and analogue bleeps: intelligent techno by definition. ‘Dreams of Happiness’ is a sci-fi soundtrack where pads and the different atmospheres are the main stars, and where subliminal drums add flow to this tune from outer space. ‘After All’ departs from calm dreamy territories with its grounded beat, complex 303 programming and micro synth sounds. A track which is as good for listening at home as it is for the dance floor. ‘The Darker Days’ uses a similar formula. Slow bpm, fat drums and weird 303 lines that make infinite layers of sound. ‘Last Regrets’ shows how melancholic harmonies can be a perfect match for abstract beats and a dub-step reminiscence. A fine piece of sci-fi techno. ‘Grey Fades To Green’ makes a clean break by offering us an industrial drum'n' bass piece with a techno approach that mutates as the minutes tick by. A dub-step melodic track. Futuristic breakbeat for the decades to come. The final track of The Green, ‘Silent Air’, picks up the homage to the intelligent techno sound of the beginning and returns to random grooves, crunchy samples, impossible hi-hats and massive synthesizer and step sequencer routines. A perfect ending to this sound journey from the heart of the dance floor to the core of your mind.

A mature work that confirms Oscar Mulero as one of the most qualified studio animals on the techno landscape.
