Poker Flat turns 10

Gamblers rejoice! Steve Bug's Poker Flat is set to celebrate their tenth anniversary, and will be offering up a three disc limited edition compilation to celebrate.

All In! is the poker-themed named of the set, and it will go, er, all in with the idea by offering up "an exclusive, uniquely designed 100% plastic, casino quality poker deck" with the limited edition version of the compilation. "The cards feature inspired, 'deadly chic' illustrations by artists Nils Zimmermann and Christoph Babbel and are included along with a Poker Flat sticker" in the limited run of 2,000 boxes.

But what about the music, you ask? Label head Steve Bug has asked many of the stars of the imprint to come up with exclusive tracks, which means you'll get tunes from Patrick Chardronnet, Märtini Brös and many more, along with some recently released vinyl tunes to sweeten the deal. As for the third disc, which comes with the aforementioned limited edition, you'll also receive a collection of Poker Flat classics. For a label that's had 100 releases and a whopping 23 albums, you can bet that disc is pretty much as advertised.

Additional Information:

Having been a key figure in the development of what he once coined ‚Da Minimal Funk‘, DJ, Producer, Label Owner and strong music activist Steve Bug has helped to define and raise a new breed of high-quality dancefloor music. Amongst countless singles, 3 artist albums and mix CDs for Poker Flat, Fabric, Fuse, Cocoon and more, Bug has forged a place in underground dance music‘s hall of fame, with no change in pace except to constantly raise the game!

Firstly the founder of the legendary Raw Elements label, and then of course the father of the Poker Flat, Dessous and Audiomatique imprints, Steve‘s amazing ear for a groove and A & R talents have brought such artists as Trentemøller, Guido Schneider, Argy, Märtini Brös and many many talented others into the spotlight, and of course the dancefloor.

This album celebrates and re-affirms some of Steve‘s greatest, boldest musical achievements over the years, including some clear-cut classics, some still-secret side projects, and some magical collaborations. From the high-end roll of his exclusive new track ‚Loop The Tube‘, to the dubbed out pump of ‚A Night Like This‘, to the sexy, spookiness of ‚November Girl‘, there are some real audio delights on offer!

And so time really does fly! Already a decade has passed since the release of the infamous and genre-defining ‚Loverboy‘, included in this compilation, and still the electronic institution that is Steve Bug remains stronger than ever! This of course means that it‘s also Poker Flat‘s 10 year anniversary, and there‘ll be some very special releases surfacing in the following months, namely a new EP and album from Steve himself, so expect the story to continue soon!

-Raveline: 'This overview about one decade of Steve Bug productions is a real must have not only for fans!

-nitestylez.de: 'Although I'm not to keen on the fact that Poker Flat Recordings, one of the labels pioneering the mp3-market for a long time now, starts to embrace the digital format in a way that partly excludes all those who prefer classic vinyl or a nice CD box set this retrospective download package is quite essential to all those who haven't followed the label and Steve Bug as its head honcho from day dot but discovered the magic of his sound somewhen on the way throughout its now a decade lasting journey. 15 tracks are included - the magic "Loverboy", the seductive "You Make Me Feel", the beloved "November Girl" amongst others plus some rare tunes from Steve Bug's secret labels as they were B-Series and Traffic Signs back in the days. Quality stuff.'

Poker Flat go Forward to the Past

Steve Bug, KiNK, Redshape and others deliver retro-flavored tracks on the new compilation, due out in April.

Poker Flat Recordings will release a somewhat nostalgic compilation next month called Forward to the Past.

The collection shows current artists indulging their love of old school club music––the kind of thing that would have come out circa '85-'92, i.e. acid, New York and Chicago house and early Detroit techno. An eclectic cast of artists step up the plate, from masked techno producer Redshape to Scottish disco act The Revenge. Aside from founder Steve Bug and label mainstay Martin Landsky, almost all of the artists featured make their Poker Flat debut with this release. All of the tracks are previously unreleased, and were mastered on tape for maximum old school effect.

Forward to the Past will come out digitally and as a double-vinyl pack. A single for Steve Bug's Jack is Back will hit shops on March 15th.

01. Steve Bug - Jack Is Back (Album Edit)
02. Martin Landsky - V2U (Album Edit)
03. KINK and Neville Watson - Night Time Raw
04. Sasse - Hot For You
05. The Revenge - Elements Of Fife (Main Mix)
06. Ribn - Pancake
07. Polus - Patterns In The Dark
08. Deetron - The Maze
09. Cle - Feel It (Don't Cha Know)
10. TJ Kong & Modular K - Jack Shit
11. Cab Drivers - Shoulder Pad
12. Redshape - Funny Green Hat (Altered Mix)

Poker Flat will release Forward to the Past on April 4th, 2011.
