Jazzanova is a German Berlin-based DJ/producer collective consisting of Alex Barck, Claas Brieler, Jürgen von Knoblauch, Roskow Kretschmann, Stefan Leisering, and Axel Reinemer. The group is one of the foremost proponents of the nu-jazz and jazz house styles of music associated with record labels such as Compost Records and Sonar Kollektiv. They also have a side-project, "Extended Spirit". They also gained recognition as innovative remixers for a vast number of acts such as Marschmellows, Ian Pooley, Incognito, 4 Hero, M J Cole, Masters at Work…To Jazzanova, music means the search for a common language of international club music, to take in influences from all different cultures and musical styles, to fuse these styles together and get the audience involved in the whole musical spectrum of that fusion. Their love for deep jazz and modern beats has led their music. Alex will represent Jazzanova collective in this event. |

Bugz in the Attic is an all-star broken beat crew of DJs and producers based in West London -- a collective that includes theese guys: Afronaught, Seiji, Daz-I-Kue, Kaidi Tatham, Mark Force, and Alex Phountzi. Whether alone, together, or involved in their many splinter projects and one-offs, the members of Bugz in the Attic have likely played a role in well over half of the releases that can be categorized as broken beat. The group has also run its own Co-Op club night and the Bitasweet label as well, which has been an outlet for some of their involvements and interests, including the Phuturistic Dancin' anthologies, Seiji's Remixes compilation, and Dego McFarlane's releases as Cousin Cockroach. Like fellow nu-jazzers, Kruder & Dorfmeister and Jazzanova, who also released remix collections as their first long players, Bugz In The Attic operate on the dogs and lampposts principle – leaving their mark on other people’s work and making it their own. Bugz have also been DJing and performing individually and collectively at clubs and events throughout Europe and the rest of the world for the last years, including tours of Japan, USA, Europe, Australia & New Zealand, the annual Bugz Party at Miami WMC, and are involved in the Co-Op club in London with Dego, IG Culture, etc. which has been jammed on a Sunday for almost 5 years. As a founder member of the Bugz in the Attic Seiji will represent theese guys in this event.

Eddy Meets Yannah Hailing from Zagreb/Croatia, Eddy has had a lively history far from being a no-name in the bizness: As Eddy & Dus he´s released the highly-acclaimed "High Life" album in the late 90s, his recording career brought up more then 20 remixes and 4 singles, causing a stir in the future jazz world. He `s a star in Croatia, best known for great remixes for the likes of Ennio Morricone, Miguel Migs, Archie Sheep,Tania Maria (huge hit in Japan!), Sun Ra, or Nicola Conte. He is a global player DJ with unbelievably fantastic technical and musical skills, always creating a positive party vibe. So recently he teamed up with Yannah, singing, producing and co-writing all the beautiful songs on the "Just Like..." album. Gilles Peterson and Peter Kruder already played the lovely cover version of Creative Source's "Can't Hide Love". First single "Reach The Sky" features mixes by Reel People (Papa Rec) and Eddy & Yannah´s new club remix.

Nu-jazz (sometimes electro-jazz) was coined in the late 1990s to refer to styles which combine jazz textures and sometimes jazz instrumentation with electronic music. Like the term electronica, nu jazz is a loosely defined umbrella musical style. It ranges from the infusion of live instrumentation to house beats of jazz house exemplified by French St Germain and German Jazzanova; to more band-based improvised jazz with electronic elements such as that of the British Cinematic Orchestra, and the Norwegian future jazz style pioneered by Bugge Wesseltoft.

Broken beats [...]
Brokenbeat is an electronic music genre first appearing around the change of the second millennium. Appearing in the western parts of London, the genre is also referred to as West London. Artists in this area mostly have a drum and bass, house, hip hop or techno background. As a result in a mixture from all of these, brokenbeat is more sophisticated than regular dance music, on the scale of jazz, soul or funk. Popular names are Bugz in the Attic, Domu, Afronaught, Stephane and Alex Attias, 4 Hero and Jazzanova. |
